CYPRESS MEADOWS

CIRCLES ARE BETTER THAN ROWS

While weekend services (rows) offer live band worship experiences, relevant teachings, and exciting programs for children, Cypress Groups (circles) provide a way to connect with others, grow in your faith, and serve your community.

Scripture and scientists alike tell us that CONNECTING intentionally with others is an indispensable part of experiencing a life of meaning, joy and love.

GETTING STARTED CLASSES

The Getting Started (GS) classes at Cypress are designed to help beginning Christians to get to know Cypress and the grace of Jesus. The classes are set up as 4 levels and are usually scheduled within weeks of each other.  A small description of each class is listed below along with the overall schedule.

Getting Started Schedule:

Our next session of classes will begin September 10th on Sundays from 9 – 10:30 am in the Studio 4:12 building.

To register for the next class, please fill out the form below. Childcare will be provided.

01

Getting Started 101 – Stepping Into Grace

This class is designed as an introduction to Cypress, who we are as a church, and what we believe.  This is a great way to be introduced to Cypress.

02

Getting Started 201 – Following Jesus

“Following Jesus” is set up to walk a new Christian into who Jesus was, and some daily practices on how to help you grow in your faith and in your walk with God.  How do you pray?  How should you study the Bible?  Where do you start reading the Bible? The beginning questions such as those and more will be covered in this session.

03

Getting Started 301 – Discovering Significance

God designed you with certain strengths and gifts. He also gave you Spiritual Gifts.  This class will take you through an assessment of what those gifts are about and what your special spiritual gifts are.  These are the things that when used, you feel refreshed, renewed, and significant.  This is part 1 of 2 (part two is Getting Started 401).

04

Getting Started 401 – Getting Into the Game

God did not just give you gifts for grins or so you can go and tell everyone but not put into action. God wants you to use your gifts. This class helps you figure out how best to put those into action. This is part 2 of 2 (prerequisite is Getting Started 301)

KIDS CONNECTION

TREEHOUSE (6 weeks to 3 years)

Care and activities for infants and toddlers is provided on the KIDS CONNECTION TREEHOUSE hall of the main building. The treehouse is a nursery arranged according to developmental stages rather than age groups, with each environment designed to meet you child’s needs. TREEHOUSE rooms are fun and exciting atmospheres where your kids will learn, create, and play together. On the TREEHOUSE hallway, you’ll find our INFANT LOFT for infants and babies who are not yet walking, our TODDLER LOFT for walkers through 2 years old, and our FAMILY LOFT which is a private viewing room for nursing moms and crying babies. TREEHOUSE care and FAMILY LOFT access is available during each of our weekend services.

CLUBHOUSE (3 years – First Grade)

The program for 3-year-olds through first grade is offered in the KIDS CONNECTION CLUBHOUSE of the 4:12 Building. (South Building) Here, kids experience their very own program with music, games, stories, activities, and lessons in a safe, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. In the CLUBHOUSE you’ll find the Sky Room for 3 through

5-year-olds who aren’t in Kindergarten yet and the Land Room for kids in kindergarten and first grade. In each environment, adult leaders serve to ensure your kids encounter the love and grace of God, have fun, and grow in their faith. There are three core truths we want every child to know by the time they leave first grade: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever! CLUBHOUSE programs are available during each of our weekend services.

Studio (2nd – 5th Grades)

The program for 2nd-5th graders is offered in The Kids Connection Studio located in the 4:12 Building. (South Building) Here, kids will experience music, games, activities, a brief lesson, and then break out in groups according to their grade level. There are three core truths we want every child to know by the time they leave 5th grade:

I can trust God no matter what.

I need to make the wise choice.

I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

KIDS CONNECTION STUDIO programs are available during each of our weekend services.

STUDENT MINISTRY

ANCHOR is the Middle School Ministry

Meeting Time: Sundays from 6 - 7:30 pm

Anchor is the Middle School ministry at Cypress Meadows Community Church. We firmly believe that the middle school years are some of the most formative in a student's life, so we strive to help our students "anchor" themselves to the foundation of Jesus. The main meeting is on Sunday nights from 6-7:30 PM in the Studio 4:12 building, where they truly have a place of their own where they can learn truths about God and faith, ask questions, and grow in community through small groups. We also offer a Sunday morning class from 11-12 PM in the Studio 4:12 building.

MOVEMENT is the High School Ministry

Meeting Time: Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30 pm

Movement is the High School ministry at Cypress Meadows Community Church. Our belief is that as student build the foundation of their identity and purpose on Jesus, the only response is to act on that faith. We want to encourage our students to "move" in their faith through a multitude of ways, whether it's serving at weekend services, talking about their faith and experience with their friends, or growing in spiritual disciplines. The high school years are vitally important and at Movement we strive to speak to our students at each grade level, through small groups and a weekly meeting on Wednesday nights, from 7-8:30 PM in the Studio 4:12 Building.

If you would like to know more about the student ministry at Cypress Meadows or have questions for our Director of Students, Max Daniels, please fill out the form below.

BAPTISM AT CYPRESS

Our next Baptism Weekend will be July 29 and 30

Baptism has always stood as a public expression of belief for people who have moved from being a seeker to being a believer. (Acts 2:41, 8:12 & 10:47-48)

If you have come to this point in your spiritual journey, then you are ready to be baptized. Just as a bride and groom tell of their love for one another through the symbol of rings, you should also want to show the world, through baptism, your union with Christ.

What is the process for being baptized?

We ask that anyone intending to be baptized at Cypress complete and return the Baptism registration form available here. Completed forms can be submitted one of three ways:

1. Mail: Send completed forms to:

Cypress Meadows Community Church
2180 McMullen Booth Road
Clearwater, FL 33759

2. Fax: Fax completed forms to (727) 726-2213
3. Drop Off: Completed forms can be dropped off in the church office or at the tall table on the patio at service on the weekends.

COMPASSION MINISTRIES

Cypress is a community of faith, hope and love. We are committed to living by faith, being the hands of hope and being known by love. Jesus demonstrated this in the very tangible ways He responded to the needs, hurts and life situations of the people around Him. We seek to work with Him today locally, in Haiti, and in Kenya.

Compassion at Home

Street Ministry – Cypress participates in a multi-church project that serves the homeless and under-resourced in Clearwater. Every Saturday from 5 - 7 pm at Church of God by Faith, in Clearwater, we gather to offer a meal, provide clothing, listen and remind people how much they matter to God and us.

Service Projects – Our Compassion team takes on qualified projects in our community to help the under-resourced with their homes. Painting, repairs and even yard work.

Compassion for Haiti

In 2003 we began a strategic partnership with Shiloh Church in St. Louis du Nord, Haiti. The goal of this partnership is three-fold:

Education – No child is guaranteed an education in Haiti and many families simply can’t afford the fees to enroll their children. And children who are not in school often become the victims of human trafficking. Shiloh Church has a school of which more than 700 children attend. We partner with Shiloh by sponsoring 300 children each year. This sponsorship also helps provide jobs for teachers and seamstresses who make uniforms, while giving much needed assistance to families.

Water – More than half of illness in Haiti is said to be the result of the consumption of contaminated water. Potable water is only available in St Louis du Nord either by purchasing it in bottle form or with a home filtration system. Cypress has placed systems in 300 homes and counting.

Enterprise – In a country where jobs are scarce and the World Bank estimates that 50% of Haitian households average income amounts to one dollar a day, it can be remarkably hard to meet the needs of a family. We have established a fund which provides micro-loans to help entrepreneurs start or expand their business.

Compassion for Kenya

Springs of Hope Kenya - In 2008, the Elders of Cypress came to understand that we could no longer sit on the sidelines while the HIV/AIDS pandemic ravaged sub-Sahara Africa. The compassion of Christ compelled us to do something. As a result, Molly Waits was sent from our midst to form an orphanage in Nakuru, Kenya. The project was begun, land purchased, a facility constructed and today is a loving home for 50 children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS, abandoned or abused. Springs of Hope Kenya has grown and developed into it’s own non-profit and today Cypress and SOHK remain partners. For more information go to springsofhopekenya.org.

Bagamoyo – is a sewing center in Nakuru which makes bags from traditional African materials. It provides jobs for women and men living with HIV/AIDS and financial support for the Orphanage.

Kambi Amani – means “Camp Peace” in Swahili. Kambi Amani is a eco-tourism camp located just outside Nakuru and has a stunning panoramic view of Lake Nakuru. The camp is designed to be a source of jobs and revenue for the orphanage.
