Games can teach us a lot about life. There are lots of parallels between chess and life. Checkmate is a great feeling when victory is immenent and all your strategy has paid off. On the other hand, a stalemate occurs when you’ve exhausted all your options and there’s no victory in sight. You feel frustrated and hopeless and cry out for a breakthrough. Are you facing stalemate in your career, your marriage, your health, or your life? Do you need a breakthrough?

Sermon Notes
Checkmate is a win. Don’t we all want to know that in education, business, parenting, and all our endeavors
Stalemate is when there is no winner. You’ve exhausted all your strategy and options and there’s no victory in sight. Who wants to be in a relationship, ministry, career, or a life that feels like it’s stuck in stalemate?
You start praying for a breakthrough to the stalemate - that a victory is still possible.

Pastors are people too. We face the same temptations, challenges, stuggles, and family issues as everyone else. I recently faced a time when I was facing stalemates in many areas of life. I prayed for a breakthrough, for a sign from God. God spoke loudly to me through a teaching tape, these three things:
- You are a treasured child of the most high God. Whose you are is more important than who you are.
- The causes I have assigned you are going to prevail. The forces of hell will not defeat them. The ultimate responsibility
- Remember your God who is great and mighty, and fight with all your might. Nehemiah 4:14
My circumstances didn’t change right away, but I continued to fight and breakthroughs started to happen.
Next Steps
- If you’re in a stalemate, pray for a breakthrough and continue to fight.
- If you are battling a stalemate on your own, get into a Next Step Partnership and allow others to pray for you and share your burden with you.

man should decide so that he can breakthrough, he should be courageous and stand firm that his old season is a passe’ and the moment he crossover where the river of God flows that is the time he will experience breakthrough. once experienced, he should have firm and establish decision not to go back from his old season but to continue his journey with God on the new season of his life and that is KAIROS - God’s perfect time on the usual time in man’s life…Shalom…
