Elder Nominations
Elder Qualifications
Nominate an Elder
Review the biblical qualifications of an elder by reading through the Elder Qualifications below.
As a member of Cypress Meadows Community Church, you may nominate another Cypress member who meets the qualifications.
Before making your nomination, you must discuss with and receive permission from the person you wish to nominate.
All nominations should be submitted through the Elder Nomination form below.
Each nominee will be interviewed by the Elder Selection Team, who will spend time with each nominee to ensure they meet the qualifications before becoming an official candidate. Candidates will be interviewed by the current Board of Elders who will decide based on character, competency, and chemistry, if the candidate will be passed on to the membership of Cypress for affirmation.
Once names are submitted to the members of Cypress, they will have 14 days to show cause why any one of the elder candidates would not be qualified to serve. Members must express their concern first to the candidate and then to the current Board of Elders.
At the end of the 14 day period, the candidates will be presented to the membership for affirmation by majority vote from participating members.
The Process
The Board of Elders
The Board of Elders will be comprised of four-to-five members and the Lead Pastor. Board members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms. However, in a season of pastoral transition (which we have now entered our third year of pastoral transition), some board members may be approved to serve extended terms in order to maintain continuity of leadership.
Everyone is Welcome.
Seriously. Every week at Cypress, Christians and non-Christians, seekers and skeptics, fired-up and burned out all come together in search of answers to life’s great questions. There’s always room for more. We hope to see you soon!
