Elder Nominations

The Process

Members of Cypress Meadows Community Church should review the qualifications of an Elder/Spiritual leader by reading the attached document. With the Biblical qualifications in mind, any member of Cypress Meadows Community Church may nominate another member to serve as an Elder/Spiritual leader.

  1. You must receive permission from the man or woman being nominated before submitting their name.

  2. Names shall be submitted in writing to the church office by completing the nomination form below

  3. The potential Elder/Spiritual leader will be interviewed by the Elder Selection Team, and they will decide based on character, competency, and chemistry, if the person will be passed on to the congregation for affirmation.

  4. Once names are submitted to the members of Cypress, members will be given 14 days to show cause why any one of the prospective Elders/Spiritual Leaders would not be qualified to serve. Members must express their concern to the prospective Elder/Spiritual Leader and then to the Elder Selection Team.

  5. At the end of the 14 day period, the prospective Elder/Spiritual Leader will be presented to the members of Cypress for affirmation.

The Board of Elders

The Board of Elders will be comprised of four to five members of Cypress and the Lead Pastor. The term for an Elder/Spiritual Leader is 3 years. However, following their 3 year term, some may be approved to serve extended terms in order to create a rotation that insures a measure of continuity.
