Who was Malik Tipsword?
Malik Tipsword was a man with a huge heart for kids. He volunteered for years with our Cypress Meadows Kids Ministry, but he wouldn't call himself a teacher. He just knew how important it was for kids to feel seen, be known and know that they are loved by God. He'd ask how their test at school went, remember their birthday and make them feel like the most important person in the room.
Malik started Phil Day at Cypress to give back to our community and help kids and families go back to school not only prepared with school supplies but with an amazing afternoon!
Sadly, Malik lost his life in a shooting in 2014. Cypress has carried on his tradition of blessing families as they head back to school in the Clearwater community ever since.
